N-Theorem of Powers and Forces: Essays on Hindu Cosmology

From Akashic Readings on the nature of reality by The Avatar Guru Maha Sannidhaanam Paramahamsa Nithyananda Swami

For decades, great minds have been trying to find a unified theory of the four forces of nature – gravity, electromagnetic forces, strong interactions and weak interactions. But Hindu Cosmology has deep insights into these forces.

Five Functions (Pancha Krityas) of Sadashiva

According to Hindu Cosmology, Sadashiva, is the ultimate INTELLIGENCE that created the cosmos. Unlike regular ideas of God (generator, operator, destroyer) which only pertains to matter, Hindu Cosmology reveals the cosmic secrets, in which the five functions (Pancha Krityas) of Sadashiva are revealed as:

Pancha Kritya, the 5 Cosmic Acts of the manifest-unmanifest, sakala-nishkala Sadashiva (from His kriya-shakti). In the Agamas, these 5 Cosmic acts are termed as Shaktis of Shiva.

Manifestation or emergence, jagaj-janma [shristi]; sustenance or continued existence, sthiti; adsorption or disappearance, dhvamsa, concealing or covering the Existence (existential reality) by secretly making it invisible and uncognizable (tirobhāva); the bestowal of grace which results in the ultimate liberation, vimuktayah – all these are the 5 actions, krtyam (of Sadashiva), who is associated with Shaktis which serve as His instruments and body and who is holding the fruits (in the form of enjoyment, bhogas and liberation, moksha). These 5 actions are certainly being performed only by Him.

~ Mrgendra Agama, vr. 3, ch 2, Paramoksha Nirāsha Prakarnam

The four forces of nature are nothing but the four faces of Sadashiva –

  1. Creation – Shrishti

This power is all about manifestation or emergence. The force of nature corresponding to this function are the electromagnetic forces.

Electromagnetic Forces – Creation

The electromagnetic force plays a major role in determining the internal properties of most objects encountered in daily life. Ordinary matter takes its form as a result of intermolecular forces between individual atoms and molecules in matter and is a manifestation of the electromagnetic force. Electrons are bound by the electromagnetic force to atomic nuclei, and their orbital shapes and their influence on nearby atoms with their electrons is described by quantum mechanics. The electromagnetic force governs all chemical processes, which arise from interactions between the electrons of neighboring atoms. [1] Thus this corresponds to the function of Shrishti.

  1. Sustenance – Sthithi

It is the function of sustenance or continued existence. Sustenance happens when things get converted into other things keeping the cycle of life and matter running. In nature, this is reflected in weak interactions.

Weak interaction – Rejuvenation

In particle physics, the weak interaction (the weak force or weak nuclear force) is the mechanism of interaction between sub-atomic particles that causes radioactive decay and thus plays an essential role in nuclear fission [2].

The weak interaction is unique in that it allows for quarks to swap their flavor for another. The swapping of those properties is mediated by the force carrier bosons. For example, during beta minus decay, a down quark within a neutron is changed into an up quark, thus converting the neutron to a proton and resulting in the emission of an electron and an electron antineutrino [2].

Thus the weak forces are responsible for transformation and rejuvenation of matter.

  1. Destruction – Vinasha or Dhvamsa

This function of destruction is also thought of as absorption. Matter attracts matter. Mass has a possessive nature – it wants to collect other mass around it. The force of nature that corresponds to this function is Gravity.

Gravity – Destruction

Gravity, or gravitation, is a natural phenomenon by which all things with mass or energy—including planets, stars, galaxies, and even light —are brought toward (or gravitate toward) one another [4].

Gravity is a possessive force, and any possessive force is destructive. Only matter attracts matter.

  1. Delusion or Putting into Illusion – Thirobhava

The truth about delusion of illusion is a unique revelation in Hinduism. In this function, Sadashiva conceals or covering reality. In reality, everything is just consciousness, but nature holds matter together to create the illusion that there are solid objects instead of just consciousness. As a corollary, all events that happen with matter interacting with matter – all possessions, emotions, the drama of life and death, which seem very real – are just a delusion that hides reality. Thus thirobhava hides existential reality by secretly making it invisible and incognizable.

Strong interactions – Stuck force

In nature, this can be thought of a stuck force or the force that holds the status quo, holding nature from either going towards destruction or complete liberation. This function of Sadashiva manifests in nature as strong interactions. Here is a brief introduction of strong force from Wikipedia. This force is normally felt only at a molecular level.

The strong nuclear force holds most ordinary matter together because it confines quarks into hadron particles such as the proton and neutron. In addition, the strong force binds neutrons and protons to create atomic nuclei. Most of the mass of a common proton or neutron is the result of the strong force field energy; the individual quarks provide only about 1% of the mass of a proton [3].

The strong force is approximately 137 times as strong as electromagnetism, a million times as strong as the weak interaction, and 1038 times as strong as gravitation [3]. We know from our experience in life, that thirobhava or delusion is indeed a very strong force!

Fifth Face of Sadashiva – not a force, but a Power.

Beyond these four forces, there is a fifth power which only an Avatar of Sadashiva, can demonstrate. This is the power of liberation – the ability to lift the veil and show reality as-is. This is a function that can only be performed by an Avatar of Sadashiva, one who has the highest intelligence, who has gone past the four actions; this person knows exactly how the cosmos and the four forces were created in the first place.

The four forces are forces of binding. The fifth – ability to liberate – is not a force, but a power. Those who can play with these four forces can only bind people. Whoever can demonstrate the fifth, can liberate people.

These four functions which we explained at a mico- and macro-cosmic level can be seen inside a living being also. In a human being, all hormonal actions are acts of creation. The chemical ups and downs that we face daily is maintenance. The process of excretion is destruction. The psychological process that creates ideas, cognitions, and illusions in us is throbhava – delusion. Finally, awakening from this illusion – Conscious awakening is liberation.

This ability to liberate is the ultimate power of Sadashiva.
